Meet the Instructors / Founders
Welcome to Rosewood Tactical Academy. We founded this academy on a simple idea: firearms training should be welcoming, accessible, and practical for everyday people. We are dedicated to providing a zero-intimidation zone where you can build real, lasting confidence—whether you are a lifelong shooter looking to sharpen your skills or a first-timer who has never held a gun before.
Meet the instructors dedicated to helping you protect what matters most.
Tom Blair
Co-Founder, USCCA Certified Instructor & USCCA Range Safety Officer
How I Got Started
Firearms have been a major part of my life for over 20 years. I started out as an avid shooter and collector, but my passion really grew into the mechanical side of things. Over the last two decades, I’ve spent countless hours building, repairing, and customizing firearms from scratch. Because I know these tools inside and out, I love breaking down how they work in plain, simple terms that remove the mystery and anxiety for beginners.
Why I Teach
I became a USCCA Certified Instructor and USCCA Certified Range Safety Officer because I wanted to turn my lifelong hobby into a way to help others safely build confidence. As a longtime husband and a dad to three kids, I completely understand that for most everyday people, firearms training isn't about being a "tactical operator." It’s simply about the peace of mind that comes with knowing you can protect the people you love.
My Teaching Style
I co-own and teach at Rosewood Tactical Academy alongside my business partner, Jeff. We started this company to be a welcoming environment for everyone. I’m here to be a patient mentor, answer your questions without judgment, and ensure a completely safe, controlled environment where you can develop your skills.
Jeff McCrite
Co-Founder, USCCA Certified Instructor & NROI Range Safety Officer
How I Got Started
I have been a hunter and wildlife conservationist my entire life, which gave me a deep respect for firearms from an early age. Over the past few years, I’ve expanded that passion into competitive shooting, testing my skills in different regional competitions. My drive to constantly improve naturally led me to dive deep into personal defense, learning everything I can about the tactical, legal, and practical sides of protecting myself and others.
Why I Teach
As a USCCA Certified Instructor and a certified Range Officer through the National Range Officers Institute (NROI), I am driven by a fundamental belief: every able-bodied person has both the right and the responsibility to defend themselves and their loved ones safely. I wanted to become an instructor to take the advanced safety and precision skills I’ve learned from competitive shooting and pass them on to everyday people.
My Teaching Style
Alongside Tom, my goal is to provide an environment where you can learn safely and at your own pace. With our combined safety backgrounds, we ensure that range time is controlled, supportive, and completely secure. Whether you want to improve your accuracy, learn the fundamentals of self-defense, or simply get comfortable holding a firearm for the first time, I am dedicated to helping you walk away with the practical skills you need.
